Summer. Two members of Wishbone had moved across the pond. Laurie Jones was busy completing her masters at the University of York and Kimberly Van Ness had been transferred to Switzerland for work. Not wanting to stop doing theater together, and realizing that the entirety of our show fit in one checked suitcase, Wishbone decided to take SPANDEX across the pond to the Edinburgh Fringe Festival. Joining the cast was Andrew Bailes, who delighted us. All of the characters in SPANDEX were personal and created based on the individual actors. But Bailes made it clear to us that the themes we highlighted in our childhood characters could be applied to anyone. The city of Edinburgh was awesome, and if you can go to Edinburgh for the Fringe, do it! The art is inspiring. Some shows blow your mind, others don’t, and that is a beautiful co-existence of all types of art. The fringe is non-judgmental and welcoming. We can’t wait to do it again in the future.

At this point, the majority of Wishbone members had scattered across the continent and globe for various reasons: new jobs, grad school, being closer to family. This trip to Edinburgh cemented that we wanted to continue to create stories together, no matter how far we traveled and we’d use those new inspirations to make our art better.
